#1 – The Conjuring (2013)

Okay, so to kick this off the first movie I’m going to review is one that I have been waiting for since it was announced. The Conjuring.

On seeing it advertised in cinemas everywhere I thought wow, this looks like it could be pretty creepy & be well worth a watch, so I decided to go see it as soon as I possibly could.

On the whole the story was good, and based on factual events which always makes it better, however I just didn’t get that creepy/scary feel. The main problem for me was that they went in to so much detail to explain the true story of the doll in as quick time as possible at the beginning then none of the story was about it? Yes I understand its based on the case files of the Warrens but still, why go to the effort to explain if you’re not going to use it..

The movie was intense and you were on the edge of your seat wondering what was going to happen next, but as for being a “scary” movie or a “horror” movie, it was neither of these. Yes you were in suspense wondering what was going to happen next, and occasionally it made you jump (despite the jumpy bits being as predictable as the tide) but there was no gore, no real threat just weird occurrences.

As a massive horror and gore fan, I think this film should have been pegged as more Thriller than Horror, but it was well worth a watch I guess. I’m not usually a haunted house fan, but, I guess this was OK. Not the best film I’ve seen all year but far from the worst.

Anyone else who has seen this, what were your thoughts?

Welcome horror lovers.

Hi there, and welcome to my blog. I know this is being done already by horror movie a day or something (which is a great blog) but I thought I’d make my own to throw in my own 2 cents.

It may not be once a day I post, it may be more or less often, but yeah!

Starting from later today, i’ll be posting reviews on horror movies good and bad, old and new, and hopefully some of you will give me some tips on what to watch!🙂

Keep watching, stay scary x
